What do Moldovans search on Google when they want to buy flowers?

We analyzed flower searches in Moldova: flowers, bouquets, delivery, roses, tulips and local Chișinău queries.

One person simply searches "flowers". Another types "flower delivery Chișinău". A third already knows exactly what they want and searches "101 roses price Chișinău". All of them are ultimately looking for a similar product, but they are at completely different points in the purchase decision.

We analyzed hundreds of queries related to Moldova's flower market to see how a general intent turns into a concrete order.

The biggest search is also the simplest: "flowers"

In the keyword research data analyzed for the Republic of Moldova, the word "flori" (flowers) — about 9,900 searches per month — is by far one of the biggest queries in the market.

But "flowers" is also ambiguous. The person could be looking for:

  • a flower shop;
  • pictures of flowers;
  • the name of a flower;
  • a bouquet;
  • information;
  • delivery;
  • flowers for an event.

That is why high volume does not automatically mean a high probability of an order.

"Bouquets of flowers" already shows a clearer intent

Among the analyzed queries:

  • buchete de flori (bouquets of flowers) – ~1,900
  • buchet de flori (bouquet of flowers) – ~880
  • flori buchet – ~390
  • flori buchete – ~390

Here the user is no longer searching just for the concept of a flower. They are getting closer to the product. In an SEO strategy, a page dedicated to flower bouquets can answer this intent far better than a general page that tries to talk about every flower type and every service at once.

"Flower delivery Chișinău" is one of the most commercial queries

Another important cluster:

  • livrare flori Chișinău (flower delivery Chișinău) – ~1,300
  • livrare flori (flower delivery) – ~590
  • livrare flori Moldova (flower delivery Moldova) – ~140

The difference matters. Someone searching "flowers" may just be curious. Someone searching "flower delivery Chișinău" has already indicated:

  1. the product;
  2. the service;
  3. the city.

They are much closer to ordering. That is why, for an online flower shop, a smaller keyword can have more commercial value than one several times larger.

Moldovans also search for the exact flower

An important part of the market consists of people who already know which flower they want. Our research shows, for example:

  • gipsofila (gypsophila) – ~720
  • ranunculus – ~590
  • hortensie (hydrangea) – ~480
  • trandafiri albi (white roses) – ~260
  • lalele Chișinău (tulips Chișinău) – ~140
  • trandafiri roșii (red roses) – ~90
  • trandafiri Chișinău (roses Chișinău) – ~70

These queries have an interesting trait: some are informational, others are almost directly commercial. "Hydrangea" can also mean the garden plant. "Tulips Chișinău", on the other hand, points much more clearly to a local purchase.

The more specific the query, the closer the user is to the product

A very good example is "101 trandafiri preț Chișinău" (101 roses price Chișinău) – about 50 searches a month. Compared to "flowers" at 9,900, the volume looks tiny. But that person has already told us:

  • which flower they want;
  • how many stems they want;
  • that they care about the price;
  • in which city they want the product.

From a flower shop's perspective, 50 such searches can be more commercially valuable than hundreds of general ones.

Local searches are a separate market

People don't just search "flowers Chișinău". District-level queries also appear:

  • flori Botanica – ~170
  • flori Ciocana – ~140
  • flori Buiucani – ~110

This shows very local behavior. The customer is not necessarily looking for the biggest shop in the city. They may be looking for:

  • a shop close to home;
  • in-store pickup;
  • faster delivery;
  • a physical store in their district.

For shops with a real location, local pages can have value that is disproportionately large relative to their apparently small volume.

Price becomes part of the search

Another type of intent is budget-oriented. Examples: "flori ieftine Chișinău" (cheap flowers Chișinău) – ~110, "price"-type searches, searches by the number of roses, searches by budget. At that point, the user is no longer asking "what can I buy?" but "what can I buy with the amount I have?".

That is why categories like flowers under 699 lei, 700–1,000 lei and 1,000–1,500 lei have real utility, not just SEO value.

People search in several languages

Moldova's market has one more particularity: searches are not exclusively in Romanian. The analyzed sets contain Romanian, Russian and even English queries. For example, the term "flowers" reaches about 1,300 searches in the analyzed set.

This means that simply machine-translating a page does not necessarily solve the problem. Google Trends also distinguishes between a search term and a topic: a term measures the exact wording searched, while a topic can aggregate several wordings and languages for the same concept. Flower searches are not constant throughout the year

Flowers are a product strongly influenced by the calendar. Moments that can quickly shift demand include:

  • February 14;
  • March 8;
  • Easter and the spring holidays;
  • September 1;
  • Teacher's Day;
  • the wedding season;
  • Christmas and New Year.

Google Trends is useful for analyzing these cycles, but its data must be read correctly. Google explains that Trends uses a sample of real, anonymized and aggregated searches, and the values are normalized on a 0 to 100 scale. A score of 100 marks the point of highest relative popularity in the analyzed period — not "100 searches".

That is why Google Trends is good for seeing when interest rises, while keyword research tools are more useful for estimating monthly volumes.

What happens around an event

The search pattern often changes in several stages.

A few days before:

  • "March 8 gift"
  • "March 8 flowers"
  • "what flowers to give on March 8"

Closer to the event:

  • "tulip bouquet"
  • "roses Chișinău"

On the day of the event:

  • "flower delivery Chișinău"
  • "flowers with delivery today"
  • "flower shop near me"

The less time remains, the more commercial the search tends to become. Here appears one of the most interesting particularities of SEO for flower shops: the same person can make three or four different searches before buying.

From information to purchase

Not all commercial searches start out commercial. A user may search "card for mom", then "what gift should I buy mom", then "flowers for mom", and finally "flower delivery Chișinău".

From a shop's perspective, the first keyword seems to have nothing to do with selling flowers. In reality, they are all part of the same event. That is why informational content can have commercial value when there is a logical link between pages.

What the searches tell us about Moldova's flower market

The data shows a few things fairly clearly.

  1. The market is not just "flower delivery". There is strong demand for flowers, bouquets, individual varieties, occasions, budgets and locations.
  2. Lower-volume keywords can be more valuable. "101 roses price Chișinău" is much closer to a purchase than plain "flowers".
  3. Localization matters. Ciocana, Botanica and Buiucani appear as distinct intents.
  4. The flower type matters. Gypsophila, ranunculus, hydrangeas, tulips and roses each form their own mini-market.
  5. The calendar changes intent. Near holidays, users move quickly from inspiration to purchase.

What this means for a flower shop

A flower shop that wants to be found on Google cannot have only: Homepage → Catalog → Contact. Users search far more specifically. A structure that reflects real behavior can include:

  • flowers;
  • flower bouquets;
  • delivery;
  • flower types;
  • number of roses;
  • budgets;
  • districts;
  • people;
  • occasions;
  • messages and cards.

Not to create hundreds of artificial pages, but so that every important intent gets a clear answer.

Conclusion

People don't search for flowers in just one way. Sometimes they search for the product. Other times for the person they want to give it to. Sometimes for the occasion. Other times just for a message to write on the card. And between the first search and the order there can be several stages.

For us, the most interesting conclusion is not that "flowers" has a few thousand searches. It is that every search says something different about what the person is trying to solve at that moment. And a flower shop that understands this can build an experience much closer to how people actually buy.
